2004 Changes To White Collar ExemptionsDownload Alert [2.4MB PDF]Attached is the most recent alert from the McLane Employment Law Group. It provides a detailed look at the final regulations recently published by the United States Department of Labor on white collar exemptions. Even though there is some movement in Congress to derail the rules, the general consensus is that they will more than likely take effect on August 23, 2004. The attached article provides useful information on how the white collar exemptions will change, including charts comparing the old rules to the new rules and the substantial changes to the salary test. This is the time to make sure your exempt employees will be in compliance under the new rules. Also, this provides a good opportunity to correct prior ongoing miscalculations. If you have any questions regarding the new rules, please feel free to contact either Linda Johnson at 628-1267 or Andrea Chatfield at 628-1341. We would be happy to work with you to conduct a wage and hour audit or to help you analyze whether your employees are property classified. |
