John advises clients regarding compliance with ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, COBRA, HIPAA and other complex federal laws applicable to employee benefit plans. He frequently represents clients before the IRS and United States Department of Labor in audits and investigations and represents clients in litigation involving employee benefit plans. John provides advice to employers regarding all forms of executive compensation and health and welfare plans. John also advises executives concerning stock options, compensation issues and estate planning involving IRAs and retirement benefits.

John's recent work includes:
- Served as expert witness on QDROs and calculation of pension benefits in divorce litigation
- Analyzed the effect of recent deferred compensation legislation on nonqualified retirement plans
- Obtained a favorable IRS private letter ruling to allow implementation of legislation involving a governmental retirement plan
- Advised several employers of their fiduciary responsibilities in connection with transitions to new retirement plan service providers
- Successfully obtained IRS approval for the correction of administrative errors made by service providers to retirement plans
