Risk Management Menu of Services

The following is a list of services the Employment Practice Group regularly provides to our clients, often at a pre-established flat fee.  Other services are customized to meet a client’s specific business needs and objectives.

  1. Employee Handbooks

We will provide a comprehensive employee handbook outlining all essential policies, along with a menu of optional policies (e.g. dress code, non-solicitation, tuition reimbursement) tailored to your workplace. This service may be packaged with a management training session to discuss the implementation of the handbook for an additional charge.

  2. Employment Practices Audit

This audit is conducted onsite with your human resources personnel. We will meet with your staff to review your employment and payroll practices and conduct a spot-check of personnel files to ensure proper maintenance. We will leave you with a checklist of "to-dos," and the audit includes a one hour  telephone consultation to help set you on your path to compliance.

  3. Safety Program

Our safety program includes a detailed safety plan, the implementation of a Safety Committee, a temporary alternative duty policy, and instructions for the DOL filing requirement. We will also provide tips on operating a Safety Committee and  drafting a meeting agenda.

  4. Workplace Training Programs

    A. Managing Within the Law (Full-day and half-day programs available)

This is our most comprehensive training package. We provide comprehensive, scenario-based training on a variety of employment laws to your management team or designated supervisors. The package includes an overview of the relevant, essential workplace laws, including: anti-discrimination, wage and hour, disability and leaves of absence, as well as an overview of best practices for hiring, firing, and discipline.

    B. Non-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment & Diversity Training (Additional sessions in the same day may be arranged at a discounted price)

Sexual harassment training alone is no longer sufficient. Your workforce must be trained in the myriad of anti-discrimination and anti-retaliation laws in order to minimize inappropriate office behavior and protect your company from litigation. This interactive session is tailored to your industry and uses engaging hypotheticals and question-and-answer sessions. This training also includes a review and revision of your harassment/non-discrimination policy.

    C. HR 101 Training Program – Performance Management & Hiring to Firing

This training is a must for the controller, CFO, business owner, or any manager who has been assigned human resource functions. The HR 101 program will provide an overview of practical guidelines to spot issues from hiring through firing, including the performance evaluation process. It is a half-day, interactive session that will use real-life examples to answer all performance management questions.

  5. I-9 Audit and Policy Development

McLane Middleton will provide an I-9 audit and associated compliance training for members of your HR team. We will review a random sampling of your existing I-9s to assess your current practices and identify training areas. The proposed training will include a review with your HR team of the audit findings, and will then move to a broader overview of general I-9 best practices. We also include a written policy that incorporates best practices and procedures, and will cover the lifecycle of the I-9, such as completion, storage, re-verification, and destruction.

  6. Workplace Policies

We will work with you to create a policy that works for your business in any one of the following areas:

    1. Code of conduct
    2. Record retention
    3. Pre-employment screening
    4. Drug and alcohol use prevention

We will provide a draft policy for your review and then assist you in finalization and implementation.

  7. Privacy and Data Security Policy and Procedure Review

We will review your current privacy and data security policies and systems to provide compliance advice. We also develop policies and systems tailored to meet the needs of your company.
