Linda Johnson to Present at Upcoming Global Symposium in Austin

The law office of McLane, Graf, Raulerson and Middleton Professional Association is pleased to announce that Linda S. Johnson will be presenting at the upcoming Global Symposium on April 26-28, 2015 in Austin, Texas.  The symposium is put on by The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

Linda will be presenting as part of a panel on “Best Practices for Managing Risks and Liability in International Programs.”  Co-presenters for the session are Hillary Pettegrew, Senior Risk Management Counsel for United Educators Insurance Company and David Thompson, Director of International Programs at The Hotchkiss School.  The panelists will review commonly asked questions in response to a 2013 Connecticut jury handing down a $41.7 million verdict to a student who was allegedly bitten by a tick while on a school trip to China.  The 4-hour workshop will cover the lower court’s ruling on the duty to warn, the issues on appeal, contractual and policy considerations, administrator and faculty issues as well as risk management and crisis response measures.

Linda is a director and co-chair of McLane’s Education Law Group.  She serves as outside general counsel for numerous independent schools as well as the largest independent academy in the United States.  She is recognized as a national authority on student and campus safety issues, risk management, boundary awareness, crisis response, employment law and independent school law issues.

Linda can be reached in McLane’s Manchester office at (603) 628-1267 or linda.johnson@mclane.com.
