Attorneys Abramson and Dutton to Run Manchester Marathon for The Campaign for Legal Services
September 21, 2009, Manchester, NH: The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association, with offices in Manchester, Portsmouth, and Concord, as well as Woburn, Massachusetts, is pleased to announce that attorneys Ron Abramson and Steven Dutton will join the team running the Manchester Marathon on November 1 in support of The Campaign for Legal Services.
The Campaign for Legal Services is an initiative to support New Hampshire’s primary legal aid programs serving the poor and elderly in New Hampshire: the Legal Advice & Referral Center, the New Hampshire Pro Bono Referral Program and New Hampshire Legal Assistance, (“NHLA”).
Working together, these organizations provide free legal services to the state’s most vulnerable residents to help meet their basic daily survival needs. For many people living in poverty, civil legal aid is the only pathway to food, shelter, health care and safety from domestic abuse.
In addition to the 26.2 mile marathon, Ron Abramson of McLane has agreed to run an additional 11.8 miles to get to 38 miles in honor of NHLA’s 38th anniversary.
Abramson looks at the challenge as a privilege and says, “Covering the marathon distance and beyond serves as a poignant reminder of the hard work and sacrifices which legal assistance lawyers and support staff make, as well as the difficult circumstances faced by lower income participants in New Hampshire’s justice system.”
The Campaign for Legal Services is an official charity of the Manchester Marathon, now in its third annual running. A team of more than more than 20 runners and volunteers has already been assembled, and the charity is encouraging additional supporters to join the cause by reimbursing the registration fee to anyone who raises at least $150 in donations.
