McLane Law Firm Honors John Weaver with Its Eighth Annual Jack B. Middleton Pro Bono Award

The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association is pleased to present John Weaver with the eighth annual Jack B. Middleton Pro Bono Legal Services Award.

Jack Middleton, a senior partner at the firm, was the first lawyer in private practice to be honored by the New Hampshire Bar Foundation with the Frank Rowe Kenison award for his exemplary work and substantial contributions to the betterment of New Hampshire’s citizens.  An esteemed trial lawyer for fifty years, Middleton has also given tirelessly to a number of civic organizations, and was among the pioneers of the IOLTA (“Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts”) program in New Hampshire, whereby, interest earned on certain funds held by attorneys is used by the New Hampshire Bar Foundation to fund legal services for the poor.

The firm created the Jack B. Middleton pro bono award to honor Jack’s dedication to the state’s underserved, and to recognize those who reflect his spirit of generosity and unmitigated zeal for helping those less fortunate.

To be considered for the award, a lawyer must exhibit consistent dedication to providing quality legal services to the poor and underserved in the communities in which McLane has offices; show exceptional attitude and willingness to take on matters on a pro bono basis or assist others who have done so; consistently meeting the firm’s goal of 30-50 hours of pro bono work per year.

John Weaver, an associate in McLane’s Corporate Department, is this year’s Jack B, Middleton Pro Bono Legal Services award recipient. This year, John spent more than 145 hours on two pro bono cases, showing an extraordinary dedication to not only the legal needs of his clients, but also such basic needs as personally driving one client to medical appointments.

In addition to his client service at McLane, John serves on the Board of Directors for Pro Portsmouth; he chairs the Government Affairs Committee for the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce; and he serves as a trustee for the Portsmouth Library. He is also an alumni admissions interviewer for Georgetown University.

John is a resident of Portsmouth. He works out of the firm’s Manchester office and can be reached at (603) 628-1442 or john.weaver@mclane.com.
