The McLane Law Firm is pleased to announce that Cathryn E. Vaughn has been promoted to senior attorney.
Kate’s practice focuses on commercial and environmental litigation, and education law. Kate represents clients potentially responsible for hazardous waste contamination in dealing with state and federal regulators, and in recouping response costs from insurers and from other potentially responsible parties. She also works with clients on permitting and the development of energy projects. In addition to her environmental and energy work, Kate represents business clients in a variety of commercial litigation matters in both state and federal courts. Having been a school teacher prior to pursuing her legal career, Kate also represents independent schools on risk management matters.
Kate is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association; the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire; the First and Second Circuit Courts of Appeals; the American Bar Association; the New Hampshire Trial Lawyers Association, the New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association. Kate was elected social secretary for the Manchester Bar Association in 2011.
She received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law, her M.S.Ed. from Simmons College and her B.A. from William Smith College.
Kate is a graduate of the New Hampshire Bar Association’s inaugural Leadership Academy class as well as Leadership Greater Manchester. She sits on The Derryfield School’s Board of Trustees and serves as its corporate secretary. She is also an elected member of the Manchester Board of School Committee. Kate was named as one of the New Hampshire Union Leader’s 40 Under Forty in 2010.
She lives in Manchester.
