McLane’s Environmental Department Also Top-Listed in New Hampshire
The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association, with offices in Manchester, Portsmouth, and Concord, New Hampshire and Woburn, Massachusetts is pleased to announce that Woodward/White’s The Best Lawyers in America® has named Barry Needleman as Concord’s Lawyer of the Year 2013 for Environmental Law.
Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive annual peer-review survey. The current U.S edition, the guide’s 19th, reviews more than 50,178 leading attorneys based on more than 4.3 million detailed evaluations on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their own and related practices.
Because of the rigorous and transparent methodology used by Best Lawyers, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel Magazine has called Best Lawyers “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.”
A Director in the firm’s Environmental Department since 2000, Barry regularly handles environmental matters for regional and national clients involving permitting, compliance counseling, auditing, and defense of administrative and judicial enforcement actions. He has done substantial work developing energy projects. He litigates issues arising out of historic liabilities at former manufactured gas plants and environmental insurance coverage disputes on behalf of policyholders. He is currently representing Irving Oil defending claims brought by the State of New Hampshire regarding MTBE contamination.
Barry has chaired the Environmental Section of the New Hampshire Bar Association and has served on the Board of Directors for the New England BioSolids and Residuals Association and the Adirondack Mountain Club. Barry has also served as an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School, Franklin Pierce Law Center and Boston University School of Law.
He received his LL.M. with highest honors from George Washington University, National Law Center in 1993. He received his J.D., cum laude from Lewis and Clark College, Northwestern School of Law in 1992.
Barry lives in Hopkinton and can be reached in the Concord, New Hampshire office at (603)230-4407 or by email at barry.needleman@mclane.com.
Steven Naifeh, President of Best Lawyers, says, we continue to believe – as we have believed for more than 25 years – that recognition by one’s peers is the most meaningful form of praise in the legal profession. We would like to congratulate Barry Needleman on being selected as Concord’s ‘Best Lawyers Environmental Lawyer of the Year’ for 2013.”
Beyond Barry’s individual recognition, as a firm, McLane’s Environmental Department topped the state ranking as well.
In addition to Needleman, five other McLane lawyers were also singled out as 2013 ‘Lawyers of the Year’ – Alexandra Breed, recognized as Concord’s Lawyer of the Year for Real Estate Law; William V.A. Zorn, recognized as Manchester’s Lawyer of the Year for Tax Law; Joseph A. Foster, recognized as Manchester’s Lawyer of the Year in Bankruptcy and Creditor-debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law; David Wolowitz, recognized as Manchester’s Lawyer of the Year for Litigation – Labor and Employment, and Jack B. Middleton, recognized as Manchester’s Lawyer of the Year for Bet-the-Company Litigation.
In all, 37 McLane lawyers were named to the Best Lawyers list.
