Cameron Shilling, John Weaver and Muhammad Usman to Present at IAPP Boston KnowledgeNet Chapter Lunch and Learn

Attorneys Cameron Shilling and John Weaver along with law clerk Muhammad Usman will be presenting at The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Boston KnowledgeNet Chapter Lunch and Learn virtual event on January 27, 2023. To celebrate International Data Privacy Day, Cameron, John and Usman will be on a panel discussing the recent case law that has come out involving Meta and WhatsApp and the enforcement of GDPR. Other speakers included on the panel are:

Cameron is a director in the Litigation Department, and chair of the Cybersecurity and Privacy Group.  Recently, Cameron was named a Boston chapter chair and advisory board member of for IAPP. In his 20 plus years as a lawyer, Cameron has managed, litigated and resolved numerous commercial matters involving data security, technology, business, and employment issues in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New England, and around the country.  His education and depth of legal experience, as well as his professional interests and passions, are strengths that Cameron leverages to provide the highest quality counseling and litigation services to clients. John Weaver is a director at McLane Middleton and a member of the firm’s Cybersecurity and Privacy Group. John was also recently named a Boston chapter chair for IAPP. John divides his privacy and cybersecurity practice between pre-breach and post-breach representation. Before a data breach, he conducts risk assessments of clients’ privacy and information security controls, oversees remediating information security vulnerabilities and gaps in privacy regulatory compliance, and negotiates data security agreements with their customers and vendors. After a data breach, John converts “end of company” attacks to manageable events by calmly quarterbacking clients’ data security teams – cyber liability and cyber-crime insurance providers, forensic investigators, IT staff, etc. – to restore operations, evaluate legal obligations, and retain customer relationships.
