David Wolowitz to Speak at National Conference on Educator Sexual Misconduct

McLane Middleton attorney David Wolowitz will be presenting at MassKids’ National Conference on Innovative Strategies to Prevent Educator Sexual Misconduct in Public and Private Schools on October 20, 2017 in Boston, Mass.

David will be part of a panel discussion on “The Code of Conduct as a Critical Prevention Tool.”  The session will identify a process by which schools can assess their current safe child policies with input from parents and youth; identify safety gaps and a plan and timetable to address them; review a set of boundary violating behaviors identified by the Enough Abuse Campaign to consider, adapt and adopt; establish a plan to educate students, school personnel and parents about the Code and a protocol on how to handle reports of Code violations so that reporters and alleged violators are protected and fairly treated.

David advises independent schools and colleges on all aspects of risk avoidance and crisis response. He is able to offer clients advice based on his years of substantial and varied experience in key legal areas that impact schools, including employment, mental health, contract, criminal, fiduciary and tort law.

David is a pioneer in applying behavioral risk management concepts to promote healthy school cultures.  He acts as general counsel to many independent schools in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and is a consultant for schools nationwide and overseas.

David can be reached in the firm’s Portsmouth office at (603) 334-6923 or david.wolowitz@mclane.com.
