Nearing one hundred attorneys and almost a century in business, the McLane Law Firm is pleased to announce that the firm is expanding its leadership team with the addition of a managing director. Dick Samuels, a shareholder and director with the firm since 1987, has been elected to serve in that role for the next three years.
Dick concentrates his practice in corporate governance, corporate transactions (M&A), and securities regulation, including SEC regulation, private securities offerings, formation of investment funds, and investment adviser representation. He will continue in his practice, but will devote significant time to management and strategic efforts.
For the past two decades, the firm has been managed with an executive director and rotating management committee. The executive director oversees strategic positioning of the firm, brand management, all professional and administrative personnel and financial matters. The management committee, whose members rotate, each serving a term of four years, monitors the firm’s economic performance and provides long-term planning policy and direction, in addition to their service to clients.
Now operating in three offices in New Hampshire and managing a rapidly growing presence in Massachusetts, the firm believes a leader at the helm with an extended term, who is dedicated to practice expansion and business development will enhance continued growth.
Michael McCluskey who, as executive director has been in charge of firm administration and business operations through almost a decade of consistent growth, will continue in his role with the addition of a managing director. The management committee will also continue to advise the firm’s policies and long-term direction.
Joe Foster, serving as this year’s chair of the firm’s management committee says of the change in structure, “The hybrid model with shared management responsibilities between a dedicated managing director and executive director has proven successful for many regional firms of our size. We believe this is the right direction for our firm at this point, and have no doubt that Dick Samuels is the right person for the job.”
