Eric Sommers Joins McLane Law Firm’s Litigation Department

— McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association, recently announced the addition of attorney Eric M. Sommers to the firm’s Litigation Department, where he will specialize in intellectual property and commercial litigation.

Prior to joining the McLane Law Firm, Sommers was an associate with Vetter & White, a civil and commercial litigation firm based in Providence, R.I. At Vetter & White, Sommers gained trial and appellate practice experience before state and federal courts in Massachusetts, Ohio and Rhode Island, concentrating in commercial, intellectual property, Mass Tort and Toxic Tort cases.

Sommers received his Bachelor of Arts in history from The University of Vermont, and his J.D. from The Ohio State University Monitz College of Law in 1999. While at Ohio State, he was a member of the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution and served as articles editor from 1998-1999. He served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Barbara J. Sellers in 1998 and as a law clerk to Douglas S. Roberts, with the firm of Clark, Perdue, Roberts & Scott, LLP in 1999. Sommers then went on to hold the position of legal editor for Lexis Publishing in Miamisburg, Ohio, from 1999-2000 before relocating to Rhode Island to join Vetter & White.

Sommers is a member of the American, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts Bar Associations, an active member of the DRI (technology, toxic tort and environmental committees), and the Rhode Island Volunteer Lawyers program. He is currently admitted to the bar in Massachusetts, Ohio and Rhode Island and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island as well as the First Circuit Court of Appeals. At the present time, Sommers resides in Rehoboth, MA but will be relocating to New Hampshire in the near future.
