Greg Smith Comments on the State’s Recent Denial of Antrim Wind Farm Certificate for Site and Facility

Greg Smith, chair of the McLane Law Firm’s Administrative Law Department has published an editorial for the American College of Environmental Lawyers on the State of New Hampshire’s recent denial of Antrim Wind Energy, LLC’s application to develop a 30 megawatt wind powered facility in Hillsborough County.

Greg has over 30 years experience in environmental and regulatory law and litigation involving the State, federal and local governments. He has led McLane’s environmental, regulatory and government relations practice since leaving the position of Attorney General of New Hampshire in 1984.

His practice has involved representation of McLane’s clientele under all the major environmental laws in permitting, enforcement and litigation matters. For example, he has represented a major energy company in the development of a 720 megawatt natural gas fired electric generating station, the development of natural resources including municipal, industrial and bottled water supplies, permitting and enforcement matters concerning solid waste facilities and wetlands and shoreland protection.

Greg is admitted to practice in New Hampshire, U.S. District Court for New Hampshire and United States Supreme Court.

He has been recognized by Chambers USA: A Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers (Environment), and Woodward/White’s Best Lawyers in America® (Administrative Law, Environmental Law) (1995 to present), having also been named Best Lawyers Environmental Lawyer of the Year, in Concord, New Hampshire in 2012. He is AV Peer Review Rated in Martindale-Hubbell, and is a Fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers.

Greg received his J.D. from the University of Maine and his B.A. in Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire. He currently serves as an adjunct professor of public policy, at New England College, in Henniker, New Hampshire.
