Middleton as Manchester’s Lawyer of the Year in the field of Bet-the-Company Litigation for 2013.

After more than a quarter of a century in publication, Best Lawyers is designating “Lawyers of the Year” in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.”
Jack is the senior member of McLane’s Litigation Department. He focuses his practice on arbitration and mediation, bringing his 50 years experience as a trial lawyer and 24 years of service as a New Hampshire District Court Judge to the table. He is a Member of the American and NH Bar Associations; a certified civil trial specialist for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy; a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers; and accredited mediator for both the NH and US District Courts; a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Sections of both the ABA and NHBA, a member of the ABA’s House of Delegates (served 1984-2005), former Secretary of the American Bar Association, President of the New Hampshire Bar Association, the New England Bar Association, the National Conference of Bar Foundations, and the National Conference of Bar Presidents, and is a former chairman of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation. Jack is also a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
He has recognized annually by Chambers USA: A Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Litigation; he has received Boston University Law School’s “Silver Shingle”, and the NH Bar Association President’s Awards for Distinguished Service and Special Service. He was named the New Hampshire Business Leader of the Year, was honored by the NHBIA with the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and the University of New Hampshire’s Alumni Association’s Charles Holmes Pettee Medal.
Jack serves as President of The Mount Washington Observatory; he is on the Board of Directors of Amoskeag Industries, Inc., he is on the Board of Trustees of NH Supreme Court Society; and he is a member of the North Country Board of the NH Charitable Foundation. Jack also serves as Chair of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation.
Beyond Jack’s individual recognition, as a firm, McLane topped the state ranking for Bet-the-Company Litigation as well.
In addition to Middleton, five other McLane lawyers were also singled out as 2013 Lawyers of the Year – Alexandra Breed, recognized as Concord’s Lawyer of the Year for Real Estate Law; Barry Needleman, recognized as Concord’s Lawyer of the Year for Environmental Law; William V.A.
