Jack B. Middleton Re-Elected to National Center for State Courts

July 29, 2002

MANCHESTER, NH — Attorney Jack B. Middleton, president of the law firm McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association, has been re-elected to a second three-year term on the Board of Directors of the National Center for State Courts by the Council of State Court Representatives. The Council of State Court Representatives is composed of members of the Conference of Chief Justices and the Conference of State Court Administrators.

Headquartered in Williamsburg, Virginia, the National Center was created in the 1970s by the Chief Justices of various states, with the help of then Chief Justice Warren Burger to provide assistance to the state courts, where 98% of the litigation in America is conducted. Much of the National Center’s work is in assisting state courts – at both the trial and appellate levels – through programs and consulting work aimed at improving the administration of justice, bolstering public trust and confidence in the justice system, and promoting programs that improve efficiency in and access to state and local courts. The National Center also has an international program that assists emerging governments in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and South America in promoting the rule of law. In many ways, the National Center serves as a vital “think tank” for state courts and provides consulting services to which courts would otherwise not have access.

Attorney Middleton is a member of the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association (ABA) serving as the Association’s secretary, only the second time a New Hampshire resident has been elected as an officer. Since 1984, he also has been a member of the ABA House of Delegates. He is a director of New England Legal Foundation and of the New Hampshire Supreme Court Rules Committee. He is a former President of the NH Bar Association, the New England Bar Association, the National Conference of Bar Foundations, and the National Conference of Bar Presidents.
