McLane Director Samuels Recognized by NH Business and Industry Association

June 9, 2008, Manchester, NH: The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association, with offices in Manchester, Portsmouth, and Concord, is pleased to announce that Richard A. Samuels, chair of the firm’s Corporate Group, has recently been honored for his service to the NH Business and Industry Association, (“BIA”).

On May 20, the BIA honored Samuels among other local business leaders at its annual meeting with the organization’s “Above and Beyond” award for demonstrating outstanding service and commitment to the BIA’s mission during the past year. Dick chairs the BIA’s Fiscal Policy Committee were he effectively led BIA efforts to reinstitute a research and development tax credit.

“This was a major initiative for the BIA during the 2007 legislative session, and an issue in which the BIA has labored for many years before finally meeting success last session,” said BIA president, Jim Roche. “Dick is an important resource for staff on many complex business tax issues. He provides a strong guiding hand for the committee and the association on fiscal policy issues,” he added.

A director with the firm since 1987, Dick concentrates his practice in corporate governance, corporate transactions (M&A), and securities regulation, including public company SEC representation, private securities offerings, formation of investment funds and investment adviser representation. He has been named among the best in this field in the legal profession’s definitive service guide, The Best Lawyers in America®, in the areas of Corporate, M&A Law, Financial Institutions Law and Energy Law in each of the last ten years. Dick is also named as a Leader in Corporate/M&A work in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers.

In addition to his work with the BIA, Dick is chairman of the Board of Directors of the Manchester Community Health Center and serves on the Board of Granite State Opera. He serves as a Trustee of the New Hampshire Institute of Art, and is a past Trustee and Chairman of the Greater Manchester YMCA, while he continues to serve on various YMCA committees and provides legal counsel to the YMCA. He also has served as chairman of the New Hampshire Bar Pro Bono Referral System Governing Board.
