McLane Law Firm Donates $100,000 to NH Bar Foundation

The Bar’s “Campaign for Legal Services” funds representation of state’s underprivileged

February 9, 2005, Manchester — The McLane Law Firm has given $100,000.00 to the New Hampshire Bar Foundation in its Campaign for Legal Services, (“Campaign”) to help fund timely, effective justice for those who face financial barriers to obtain legal representation otherwise.

The 3-year Campaign raises funds for three important programs: New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA), the Legal Advice and Referral Center (LARC) and the Pro Bono Referral Program of the New Hampshire Bar Association.

The Bar Foundation’s goal for this campaign was to substantially increase private support for legal services in New Hampshire, and to heighten the awareness of the need for legal aid in our state. The Bar Foundation approached all attorneys admitted to the New Hampshire Bar and asked for a donation, with the highest level being called a Leadership Pledge of $1500.00 per lawyer over the course of three years.

“The Campaign has been successful due to the generosity of the attorneys and law firms in the state and the McLane firm has been a great leader in supporting legal services. In just over three years over $800,000 in gifts and pledges has been received.” says David Snyder of the NH Bar Foundation.

Mike McCluskey, Executive Director said of the firm’s commitment, “McLane has a long and proud heritage of supporting legal services in New Hampshire. We believe the system can only be called ‘just’ when it is fair and accessible to all, and that is what these programs strive to accomplish. We hope every attorney will give what they can to support them.”

Marilyn McNamara, Executive Director at LARC said, “The McLane firm’s generous gift will help hundreds of low income clients and their families with legal problems that threaten such basic needs as shelter, support and protection from violence. We are grateful for the firm’s commitment to New Hampshire’s most vulnerable people.”

“The McLane firm’s enduring leadership in building and sustaining support for equal justice in New Hampshire has been truly outstanding,” said John Tobin, executive director of New Hampshire Legal Assistance. “The enormous generosity of the lawyers at the McLane firm in the Campaign for Legal Services has enabled us to help vulnerable families and individuals avoid homelessness, gain access to health care and subsistence income, and escape domestic violence,” Tobin added.
