McLane Law Firm Expands Energy Group – Richard Kanoff Joins McLane’s Energy and Utility Practice Groups

The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton Professional Association is pleased to announce that Richard Kanoff has joined the firm as Co-Chair of the Energy and Utility Practice Groups, practicing out of the TradeCenter 128 office in Woburn, Massachusetts. Richard will focus on expanding the Firm’s utility, renewable and clean technology energy activities and enhance the Firm’s ongoing energy practice growth.

“Richard complements our Energy Practice Group’s regulatory and siting capabilities and brings substantial experience handling all aspects of renewable energy project development and financing,” said Barry Needleman, Co-Chair of McLane’s Energy Practice Group.

Richard brings more than 28 years of experience providing advice to numerous emerging and established public companies in diverse energy markets such as clean coal and other fossil fuel-related generation, biofuels, biomass, energy and demand management, smart grid, solar, wind, fuel cells and other distributed generation technologies.  He has extensive knowledge in renewable and traditional energy project development, permitting and finance.

Prior to going into private practice, Richard was Regional Counsel for Calpine Corporation, an independent/merchant power producer. In that role, he supported development, construction, permitting, operation, compliance, acquisitions, restructuring and/or disposition of more than $2.5 billion in energy facilities. Additionally, he directed federal and state energy and environmental compliance with federal administrative agencies and regional ISOs. He also served as an Assistant Attorney General in Massachusetts.

Richard joins McLane’s Energy groups, which have been serving clients for more than 80 years in utility regulation, energy facility siting and permitting, corporate and transactional work, project finance, contracting and construction, environmental compliance, and administrative litigation before various state agencies. The Firm’s clients include prominent regulated utilities, banks, investors, developers and independent power producers.
