The McLane Law Firm is pleased to announce that Ann Routos was recently presented with the firm’s first John R. McLane, Jr. Community Service Award during its annual colleague awards event.
This new award is given to the McLane attorney, paralegal, or administrative colleague who exemplifies the highest commitment to the community based on colleague observation, peer reviews and client recommendations. The award is named after former partner, John R. McLane, Jr., who had a long history serving the community, most notably in his efforts to help save the Palace Theatre in Manchester, N.H.
Ann is the firm’s project manager and a co-chair of McLane’s Community Service Committee.
“Community service has always been a large part of McLane’s culture, but Ann has taken the firm’s efforts to a new level in just our first year of having a Community Service Committee,” said the firm’s CEO, Cathleen A. Schmidt. “The committee has already set up monthly volunteer projects, donated school supplies to local children, delivered groceries to help the elderly, and organized an agency fair for the United Way. The success of the committee is due in large part to Ann’s efforts.”
Additional efforts by the committee helped the firm raise over $80,000 for the United Way and donate $2,250 worth of turkey coupons to the NH Food Bank.
The firm was recently recognized for its efforts by receiving an Outstanding Volunteer Champion Award for Business by Volunteer NH at the 2014 Spirit of New Hampshire Awards Ceremony.
“When I think about Ann’s efforts, I’m reminded of the quote, ‘You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give,’” Schmidt said. “She truly exemplifies McLane’s commitment to the community.”
