The McLane Law Firm is proud to recognize attorney Steven Dutton with the eighth annual Jack B. Middleton Pro Bono Legal Services Award for his outstanding commitment to serving New Hampshire’s citizens in need.
McLane, New Hampshire’s largest full-service law firm, created the award in support of its efforts to help ensure that all New Hampshire citizens, regardless of resources, have access to the justice system. Since the firm’s inception almost a century ago, McLane has been a consistent leader in supporting the state’s most vulnerable constituents. Jack Middleton has worked tirelessly over the past fifty years giving back to those most in need. He is chair of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation, a unique charitable arm of the Bar Association that funds both direct legal assistance and justice education programs to help the state’s poor receive fair access to the legal system.
Steve is an associate in the litigation department where he focuses his practice on business litigation matters, including contract and collection actions. He also represents clients in a wide variety of disputes ranging from personal injury claims to land use disputes, in addition to his pro bono cases.
He has handled all kinds of pro bono cases from foreclosure to landlord and tenant issues to parenting and divorce matters. He has met the hourly goal the firm sets for individual pro bono commitments every year he has been with the firm.
Charla Stevens, chair of the pro bono committee, said of his commitment, “Steve has never once declined a request from the Pro Bono Coordinator, and willingly takes on cases with crisis situations and short deadlines. He continues on with clients when new problems arise, even after their original matter has concluded, giving them the same level of respect and attention he gives his most prestigious clients.”
