McLane Welcomes Two New Directors and Shareholders

January 1, 2009, Manchester, NH: McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association is pleased to announce that Charla Bizios Stevens and Denis P. Dillon have been voted directors and shareholders of the firm.

Charla is an attorney in McLane’s Litigation Department focusing her practice on employment, health care and domestic relations matters. Denis is a member of the Trusts and Estates Department and practices in the areas of taxation, estate planning, probate law, and elder law, including Medicaid planning.

Charla joined McLane in 2001 after having practiced law in New Hampshire since 1984. In her practice at McLane, she regularly advises business clients on personnel policies, wage and hour issues, labor audits, discrimination claims, internal investigations and the termination and discipline of employees. Charla also conducts in-house management and sexual harassment training, as well as self-audits for companies who want to evaluate their personnel practices.

She assists families in resolving disputes in a myriad of ways including mediation, collaborative law and litigation. She is a trained mediator and a member of the Collaborative Law Alliance of New Hampshire. She has also represented professionals such as doctors, lawyers and mental health providers before licensing boards and in litigation.

She has extensive background and experience representing professionals such as attorneys and mental health professionals before licensing and disciplinary boards and in malpractice litigation.

She is admitted in New Hampshire, the United States District Court of New Hampshire and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

Charla is a member of the American Bar Association (Labor and Employment, Family Law, Tort Trial and Insurance Practice, and Litigation Sections)and is the Co-Chair of the Family Law Litigation Committee of the Section of Litigation of the ABA. She also belongs to the New Hampshire Bar Association (Labor and Employment and Family Law sections); the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Lawyers’ Assistance Committee; the Manchester Bar Association; and the New Hampshire Association for Justice.

She serves as the Hillsborough County Representative, North for the New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association, and the Government Relations Director of the N.H. State Council of the Society for the Human Resource Management. Charla also served as the former Executive Editor of the New Hampshire Bar Journal.

She is Secretary of the Board of Directors for New Hampshire Partners in Education; and served as the former Chair of the Boards of the Manchester Community Health Center and Child Health Services. She recently received the McLane Law Firm’s Jack B. Middleton award for her exceptional commitment to pro bono service.

Charla received her J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School in 1984 and her B.S., cum laude, from Merrimack College in 1981. She currently resides in Bedford.

Denis Dillon began his career in 1992 as a tax attorney with the public accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand. He has been with McLane since 2003, handling all aspects of federal and state taxation including income taxation, estate and gift taxation. He also advises clients with respect to sophisticated tax, business, succession and estate planning.

He is a member of the New Hampshire and Massachusetts Bar Associations; the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council; the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; and the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Academies of Elder Law Attorneys.

Denis serves on the Board of the Cross Roads House and the Portsmouth Sunrise Rotary Club. He is a member of the Volunteer Lawyer Service of Massachusetts Justice Project; a graduate of the Leadership Seacoast Class of 2006, and recipient of the 2003 Equal Justice Tax Award for pro bono legal service.

He received his B.A. from Assumption College, his M.B.A. from Nicholas College. Denis earned his J.D., graduating cum laude, from Western New England College School of Law and his LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law. He lives in Dover.
