Robert A. Wells Named Manchester’s Lawyer of the Year for Non-Profit/Charities Law

McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association is proud to announce that Woodward/White’s The Best Lawyers in America has named Bob Wells as Manchester’s Lawyer of the Year for Non-Profit/Charities Law for 2012.

Best Lawyers® compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 18th edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2012) is based on more than 3.9 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.

After more than a quarter of a century in publication, Best Lawyers is designating “Lawyers of the Year” in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.”

Bob is a director of the firm and is a member and former chair of the Trust and Estate Department.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust &, Estate Counsel (ACTEC), former State Chair for New Hampshire, and is active on its Charitable Planning and Exempt Organizations Committee, the Estate and Gift Tax Committee, and the Elder Law Committee.  He is a frequent lecturer before professional and civic groups on the topics of estate planning and probate law.

Bob is or has been a member of numerous civic committees, including:  The Nature Conservancy of New Hampshire, the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, St. Paul’s School Advisory Committee on the Advanced Studies Program, the Currier Museum of Art Advisory Committee, the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, The Episcopal Dioceses of New Hampshire, the United Church of Christ Retirement Community, Central New Hampshire Mental Health Center, the Town of Hopkinton Budget Committee, the Hopkinton Library Foundation, Office of Public Guardian, the Concord Community Music School, and the American Lung Association, on both state and national levels.

Most recently, he was honored by the New Hampshire Bar Association with its 2011 Award for Distinguished Service to the Legal Profession.

Bob received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1967 and his B.A. from DePauw University in 1964.  He resides in Concord.

Steven Naifeh, President of Best Lawyers, says, “We continue to believe – as we have believed for more than 25 years – that recognition by one’s peers is the most meaningful form of praise in the legal profession. We would like to congratulate Bob Wells on being selected as Manchester’s ‘Best Lawyers Non-Profit /Charities Lawyer of the Year’ for 2012.”

Bob was also once again named to the list of Best Lawyers for his work in Trusts and Estates.
