Steven Burke Elected To American College Of Tax Counsel

MANCHESTER, NH— Steven M. Burke of the Law Firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, P.A. has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, an organization comprised of approximately 700 of the leading tax attorneys in the United States.

Mr. Burke serves as Chair of the Tax Department at the McLane Law Firm. He concentrates his practice in the business and corporate tax areas as well as estate planning, ERISA, employee benefits and state and federal level tax areas. Prior to joining the Firm in 1990, Steve worked in the Boston office of Price Waterhouse.

Steve provides ongoing and transactional advice to a variety of closely-held and publicly-traded corporations relating to their corporate governance, business and tax related issues, in addition to estate plans. He has significant experience with leveraged ESOPs and has worked closely with the Board of Trustees of private and municipal retirement plans on ERISA and IRS compliance matters.

He is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association where he is a Past President of the Tax Section. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and is admitted to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in both of those states. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants where he currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors and the Society’s President. In addition to authoring numerous articles on business law, taxation and employee benefits matters published in the New Hampshire Bar News, New Hampshire Bar Journal and the New Hampshire CPA Society CPA Connection, Steve is a frequent lecturer for the New Hampshire Bar Association, the New Hampshire Society of CPAs, the National Business Institute, and the Lorman Business Institute on similar topics.

In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen Foundation and Stage One Productions for a number of years, Steve is a former Board member, Past President and Treasurer of the New Hampshire Employee Benefits Council. He is a graduate of the Leadership of Manchester Program sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Steve is also currently serving as an adjunct professor at Franklin Pierce Law Center, Concord, New Hampshire, where he teaches courses in individual federal income taxation and business entities taxation. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of The Derryfield School as well as serving on their Finance and Personnel Committees.
