Katarina Overberg focuses her practice on cybersecurity and data privacy matters and intellectual property.
In the dynamic field of cybersecurity and data privacy, Katarina counsels clients on cybersecurity and data privacy compliance and litigation stemming from an organization’s data management and governance practices, helping them navigate complex U.S. federal and state regulations as well as international requirements like the GDPR, PIPEDA, and global data transfer frameworks. As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Katarina plays a key role in guiding clients through today’s multifaceted data landscape.
In the complex area of intellectual property, Katarina has extensive patent preparation and prosecution experience in a variety of technical fields, including aerospace and defense, automation and robotics, autonomous vehicle, and consumer products. She has experience advising clients on protection strategies for their inventions in both U.S. and foreign patent offices and offers guidance on infringement issues, collaboration agreements, and nondisclosure agreements.
Katarina earned her JD from The University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, where she was Notes Editor for IDEA: The Law Review of the Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property. She also received her BA in Physics from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Prior to joining the firm, Katarina was an Associate at McCarter and English and gained valuable experience as a judicial extern to the Honorable William G. Young, assisting with civil and criminal matters, including Markman hearings and arbitration agreements.
