Attorney Linda Johnson is the founder of the Education Law Group at McLane Middleton, P.A., a law firm with offices in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. With an impressive career spanning over three decades, Linda has been a trusted advisor to independent schools across the United States and internationally, with a particular focus on in risk prevention and crisis response. Her background lies in fostering healthy relationships within school communities through the management and oversight of a positive school culture. Linda provides invaluable guidance to teachers, staff, administrators, and board members, equipping them with a behavioral compass to promote healthy childhood development. Her efforts also help in recognizing and addressing early signs of concerning behavior that could potentially lead to harmful misconduct. She assists schools in drafting policies and procedures to deal with all aspects of school operations but is particularly renowned for her work in developing educational awareness and training programs that emphasize the importance of setting and maintaining appropriate boundaries with students. In addition to her advisory role, Linda frequently consults with schools and organizations dealing with critical incidents of misconduct that have impacted students. She coordinates and oversees third-party investigations and advises administrators and boards on responding to complaints with transparency, accountability, and equity. Linda is a sought-after speaker, regularly presenting to national organizations such as NAIS, NBOA, and TABS. She has also authored numerous influential articles, including the NAIS Legal Advisory on Reopening Your School Campus, the NAIS Guidelines for Dealing with Educator Sexual Misconduct, the NAIS Independent School Guide to Hiring, and the NAIS Guidelines for Working With and Supporting Transgender Students, among others. Above all, Linda’s mission is to help schools “do the right thing, the right way.” She can be reached at linda.johnson@mclane.com or at 603-628-1267.
