A litigator needs three skills to effectively and successfully represent clients: expertise in the art of litigation, respect for the science of litigation prevention, and mastery over the reality of the client’s business.
Aaron has developed litigation expertise representing clients in a broad array of complex commercial disputes, including contractual disagreements, business torts, insurance coverage disputes, and real estate controversies. He has championed clients through all phases of litigation, and leverages extensive experience in traditional- and e-discovery, motion practice, dispositive and appellate briefing, and pre-trial preparations. He has also found success in the courtroom, including as co-counsel in a widely-reported trial in Massachusetts Land Court.
Nonetheless, Aaron’s experience has also taught him that, although a litigator’s first instinct is to litigate a dispute, the client’s optimal outcome is often achieved through prudent pre-suit counseling and resolution. Aaron is vigilant in seeking out opportunities to help clients minimize and avert disagreements before they become full-blown disputes, thereby avoiding the cost and inconvenience of formal litigation. For example, during the pandemic, Aaron guided clients through a variety of emergencies in advance of actual litigation, including various pandemic-induced contractual crises involving obligations in supply agreements, event contracts, leases, and other contracts.
Finally, success requires a masterful understanding of the client’s business and industry, and of the legal pitfalls and regulatory burdens that come with it. Aaron prioritizes learning each client’s business and industry, and treats this education as a lifelong project that continues even after a case settles or a verdict is rendered. Through this unrelenting commitment to understanding clients, Aaron skillfully counsels clients engaged in even the most complicated and regulated businesses, including financial services conglomerates, multinational insurers, and medical technology companies.
Aaron earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he served on the Harvard Business Law Review’s Board of Directors. He earned his B.S. from the University of Alabama, where he triple-majored in Finance, Economics, and Public Relations. He is actively involved in his community, donating his time as Chairman of the Zoning Board of Adjustment and as a member of the Planning Board for the Town of Kensington.
