Jack B. Middleton Elected to Forest Society Board of Trustees

December 13, 2010, Manchester, NH:  The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association, with offices in Manchester, Portsmouth, and Concord, as well as Woburn, Massachusetts is pleased to announce that Jack B. Middleton has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, (“Forest Society”).

Founded in 1901, the Forest Society is the state’s oldest and largest non-profit land conservation organization. Supported by 10,000 families and businesses, the Forest Society’s mission is to perpetuate the state’s forests by promoting land conservation and sustainable forestry.

Middleton is the senior member of McLane’s litigation department.  An esteemed trial lawyer for more than fifty years, Middleton has also given tirelessly to a number of New Hampshire’s leading organizations focused on preserving the state’s natural resources.  Prior to becoming a trustee for the Forest Society, Jack served on the board of The Nature Conservancy for the term limit of nine years.  He has also served on the boards of the Mount Washington Observatory, and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, among others.

Jack was the first lawyer in private practice to be honored by the New Hampshire Bar Foundation with the Frank Rowe Kenison award for his exemplary work and substantial contributions to the betterment of New Hampshire’s citizens.  He has received numerous recognitions for both his professional and personal contributions, including Boston University Law’s Silver Shingle Award for notable contributions to the legal profession, leadership within the community, unfailing service to the School of Law, and superlative contributions to society.

Middleton was also among the pioneers of the IOLTA (“Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts”) program in New Hampshire.  Under IOLTA, interest earned on certain funds held by attorneys are used by the New Hampshire Bar Foundation to fund legal services for the poor.
