McLane Director, Bruce Felmly Elected To American Law Institute

MANCHESTER, NH— Litigation attorney, Bruce Felmly of the law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, P.A. has been elected to the American Law Institute.

The Institute drafts and then publishes various restatements of the law, model codes, and other proposals for legal reform. Its membership consists of judges, practicing lawyers, and legal scholars from all areas of the United States as well as some foreign countries, selected on the basis of professional achievement and demonstrated interest in the improvement of the law. The Institute’s incorporators included Chief Justice and former President William Howard Taft, future Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes, and former Secretary of State Elihu Root. Judges Benjamin N. Cardozo and Learned Hand were among its early leaders.

Mr. Felmly has a statewide trial practice representing plaintiffs and defendants in commercial litigation and has been recognized on The Best Lawyers in America® list. He has been named by Chambers USA America’s Leading Business Lawyers as one of the top litigators in the state of New Hampshire.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the New Hampshire and American Trial Lawyer’s Associations and a Fellow of the New Hampshire and American Bar Foundations. He has been active in the New Hampshire Bar Association serving as President in 1995.

He is the current chair of the New Hampshire Supreme Court’s Committee on Justice System Needs and Priorities studying the long range needs of the court system; on the Editorial Committee Special Committee on Rules of Civil Procedure; and on numerous other Bar Association or court appointed committees.

Mr. Felmly served as a New Hampshire Bar Examiner from 1978 to 1989. In 1987, he received the New Hampshire Bar Association’s President’s Award for Outstanding Service. In 2002, he was presented with the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Distinctive Service to the Legal Profession Award.
