John Weaver to Present on Ransomware

 

McLane Middleton attorney John Weaver will be presenting at an upcoming MCLE New England webinar, “Guarding Your Practice and Clients Against Ransomware Attacks” on September 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. ET.As part of the presentation, the presenters will review strategies to decrease the likelihood of a successful attack and improve an organization’s ability to recover after an attack.

John is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department and Privacy and Information Security Group. He has a diverse practice that focuses on privacy, cyber security, commercial real estate, land use, and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, self-driving vehicles, and drones.

In his information security practice, John represents clients both before and after breach events: ransomware, malware, wire fraud, etc. He conducts risk assessments of clients’ security controls and prepares reports that both identify vulnerabilities and provide a roadmap to remediate those vulnerabilities. When a breach event occurs, John coordinates with cyber liability and cyber crime insurance providers, forensic investigators, government agencies, IT teams, vendors, and customers to respond to breaches, protect clients, and preserve their customer relationships. As a data privacy attorney, John assists clients to comply with the growing and complicated array of domestic and global privacy laws, e.g., HIPAA, California Consumer Privacy Act, California Privacy Rights Act, European Union General Data Protection Regulation, etc.
