Kate Vaughn Named to 40 Under Forty

February 10, Manchester, NH  – The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, P.A., with offices in Manchester, Portsmouth, and Concord, and Woburn, Massachusetts is pleased to announce that another of its attorneys, Cathryn E. Vaughn  has been named to the Manchester Union Leader’s annual 40 Under Forty list.

Every year New Hampshire’s largest statewide newspaper identifies a list of forty individuals in the state, under forty years of age, whose actions are making a positive difference.  Kate Vaughn is one of a growing list of McLane attorneys on whom the honor has been bestowed since the program’s inception in 2001.

As a member of McLane’s Litigation Department since 2004, Kate’s practice focuses on environmental and commercial litigation as well as school law.  A considerable portion of her practice is spent helping clients recover response costs incurred remediating contaminated properties from insurance carriers and other potentially responsible parties.  Kate has worked on numerous complex, multistate environmental litigation matters.

Kate’s previous work experience as a special education and independent school teacher helps with her representation of schools with risk management and litigation matters.
She is a member of the American Bar Association, Litigation and Environmental Law Sections; New Hampshire Bar Association; New Hampshire Association for Justice; New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association; and serves on the executive committee for the Manchester Bar Association.
Kate serves on the Manchester Board of School Committee and the Board of Trustees for The Derryfield School.  She is on the William S. Green Manchester Youth Leadership Steering Committee and the Manchester Heritage Commission.  She is also a member of the Leadership Greater Manchester class of 2006-2007.
She received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law, her M.S.Ed. from Simmons College, and her B.A. from William Smith College.

Kate joins several other distinguished McLane attorneys who have made the 40 Under Forty list in prior years, including Mark A. Wright, Chair of McLane’s Intellectual Property Group, Daniel J. Norris, a Director of the firm and member of the Corporate Department, John E. Hughes, a Director and a member of the Trust and Estates Department, and Jennifer Parent, a Director and member of the Litigation Department.
