McLane’s Jack Middleton to receive BIA Lifetime Achievement Award

MANCHESTER,NH — The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton is proud to announce that the Business & Industry Association, (BIA), New Hampshire’s statewide chamber of commerce and leading business advocate, has chosen Jack B. Middleton, director and president of the firm as recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award. The award will be presented at the association’s Annual Dinner on October 18, 2005.

“For more than half a century, Jack Middleton has committed himself to family, community, profession, state and country, and he has done so with civility, sincerity, and warmth,” said George Gantz, BIA chairman and senior vice president of Unitil Corporation. “In the process, Jack has become a role model for generations of state business leaders, and has made New Hampshire a better place to live and work. The BIA is proud to recognize him with this well-deserved award.”

Following nine years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps (including two years of active duty), Middleton joined the law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton in 1956. Serving as director since 1962 and president since 1989, Middleton has steadfastly promoted community service, non-profit work, and pro bono representations at the law firm. Under his leadership, the firm has grown into the state’s largest, employing more than 170 individuals in three locations.

Middleton currently serves on the Mediation Panel of the United States District Court and the NH Superior Court. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and served as secretary of the BIA – a post he held for 17 years. A former chairman of the NH Bar Foundation, Middleton has also served as a member of the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association. In addition, he has served as director of NH Public Radio, NH Public Television, the New England Council, and the Manchester Development Corporation, Chamber of Commerce, and United Way.

BIA’s Lifetime Achievement Award is presented annually to a New Hampshire business professional who has demonstrated outstanding and long-term commitment to leadership in their industry, their local community, and the state of New Hampshire
